About Us

Our Mission

At First Baptist, we are driven by a mission that Jesus Christ established for all of His true followers about 2,000 years ago. Jesus stated in Matthew 28:19-20, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18–20, ESV)

Making disciples of Christ is the goal, the objective, the desire, and the task for us here at First Baptist. What exactly is a disciple of Christ Jesus?

A disciple is…
1. A committed follower of Jesus’s life
2. A meek learner of Jesus’s teaching
3. A faithful representative of Jesus’s authority
4. A willing imitator of Jesus’s character
5. An undeserving recipient of Jesus’s righteousness
6. A joyful dependant of Jesus’s lead
7. A humble beneficiary of Jesus’s trust and love

These seven statements are based completely on the Holy Bible as God’s Word. If you want to be a committed follower, meek learner, faithful representative, willing imitator, undeserving recipient, joyful dependant, and humble beneficiary of Christ, read His Word. And we are more than willing to help!

Our Core Values

What a person, family, or church values shows! It shows in what we do and how we spend our money. For us at First Baptist, we seek to value the things of God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and the Church. Therefore, whether we come together on the Lord’s Day or live our lives in our worlds, we are committed to following five core values.

Christ-Centered Worship

Worship is the awed response to the saving acts and praiseworthy character of God, as revealed in creation, the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the life, death, burial, resurrection, ascension, and promise of return of Jesus Christ. True worship starts with a correct understanding of who Jesus is, what Jesus did, and what His Father did aftercHis Son’s death.

Authentic Discipleship

As stated earlier in our mission, discipleship is the real, genuine life-long process of following Jesus’s life, learning Jesus’s teachings, representing Jesus’s authority, imitating Jesus’s holiness, receiving Jesus’s righteousness, depending on Jesus’s lead, and benefiting from Jesus’s love and trust.

Effective Missions / Evangelism

Effective Missions and Evangelism centers on the fruitful and successful sharing of the gospel message, through biblical methods, and is dependent upon Spirit-led authenticating witnessing.

Engaging Fellowship

In the New Testament, the basic term, translated variously as ‘communion’, ‘fellowship’, ‘communicate’, ‘partake’, ‘contribution’, ‘common’ refers to the spiritual bond or union fellow Christians enjoy as a result of their common faith, displayed through genuine love. Engaging fellowship is loving each other in the Body with the kind of love our Heavenly Father shows His children.

Tangible Ministry

In its wider sense ministry refers to service rendered to God or to people. Tangible ministry is the kind of service that touches people, in Jesus’ name, and in a variety of ways. It is designed to reveal and display the person of Christ and the message of the true gospel to those in need.
